At Ampthill Asphalt Plant, a new split-level platform was commissioned that would accommodate smaller vehicles and that features several drawbridges complete with handrails.An elevated workstation means that samples can be riffled to the correct size, eliminating the need to carry large loads downstairs, and enabling surplus ‘test’ asphalt to be returned onto the load. Importantly, the platform has chamfered leading and trailing edges to help channel imprecise drivers and the base has now been filled with concrete to ensure stability in the event of an LGV coming into contact with the structure.
