The “Day Prod” is a feature of Purley Depot, where the Day Group processes up to 250 tonnes/hour of C&D wastes, south of London. Blockages in the primary jaw crusher are frequent, due to the inconsistent nature of the raw feed. To maximise efficiency of dealing with these blockages in as safe a manner as possible, the site has opted for a quick-hitch attachment to their Volvo 360° tracked hydraulic back-hoe. The bucket can therefore be exchanged in a matter of seconds for a hardened steel bar attached to a base plate. The “Day Prod” consigns to history the dangers of dealing with blockages by manual handling and operators working in close proximity to a moving crusher.
