Description
Inspite of a wide range of initiatives to avert bitumen spillages at Halton East asphalt plant, spillages from the bitumen kettle were still being experienced. To eliminate this risk, a very simple float limit system has been fitted within the bitumen weigh kettle.
The float limit system ensures that all the bitumen pumps are switched off when the limit is reached. This prevents any possibility of a bitumen spillage even if other safety devices have failed, are incorrectly calibrated or a valve has jammed.
