TITLE
Bucket tooth handler
ARTICLE
Glensanda Quarry (Foster Yeoman’s Scottish superquarry) operates very large equipment in a particularly abrasive granite. Bucket tips on the company’s latest Caterpillar 992 loaders and Demag H95 excavators weigh in at 50 kg each – 20 teeth in all, replaced on an average cycle of 3 weeks - equating to the manual lifting of 17 tonnes in a year! By adapting a road kerbstone layer, the weight can be shared between two people, thus reducing the risk of strains & sprains, or the need for hand contact.
