Competency assessment process

Description

Brett Aggregates decided that all of their process and plant operators should be assessed against a competency matrix – against 90+ potential competencies and associated management system requirements.

A fundamental part of this assessment included gaining an NVQ in the appropriate discipline. Mentors were appointed in each operational area, who had already gone through the NVQ process themselves, to provide support. An operator who used another piece of mobile plant that wasn’t covered by their NVQ was certificated for this as well.

Benefits

• All operational staff have had their competencies assessed and have gained an appropriate NVQ
• SHE competencies have been highlighted and raised across Brett Aggregates
• Improved training experience and increased recall from delegates
