Walters Group is a family-owned organisation that prides itself on working together with its workforce to improve all business areas with a particular focus on health, safety, and wellbeing.
The group had created and implemented seven Key Safe Behaviours (KSBs) which had been cascaded to all employees across the group by its senior management team. Health and safety performance is proactively monitored and incorporates a 360-degree review process to identify issues, hazards, problems and trends in behaviour.
This process had highlighted that a number of incidents were attributable to behavioural factors. This evidence was the catalyst to create a bespoke behavioural safety initiative to achieve the vision of a workplace that is free from injury.
In 2022, the senior management team decided enhance the KSBs with a bespoke Behavioural Safety Training (BST) initiative. This would include a training programme for both the Walter’s workforce and its supply chain partners.
