TITLE
High Potential Near Hit involving the use of jaw lifting tool-Nordberg C-Series Jaw crusher
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN

WHAT HAPPENED

An incident occurred overseas, which involved the use of a Lifting Attachment provided by Metso for the safe removal and replacing of Jaws from their . During the lifting operation with a crane the jaws became detached from the lifting tool and fell causing damage to a walkway below.

There is no suggestion at this stage that the incident was as a result of this lifting attachment however as part of the investigation a review of the Metso procedure for this lifting tool was completed. The instructions provided by Metso are comprehensive and the reason for this Alert is to ensure that if you do use this equipment ensure that the lifting tool is being used in strict accordance with the manufactures requirements.
