TITLE
Lifting Equipment
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN

WHAT HAPPENED

In a recent audit it was highlighted that as part of the contract change over from Company A, who previously carried out inspections of all lifting equipment to Company B, it resulted in inspection checks at one site going overdue the statutory inspection date.

These items had not been quarantined or locked away and it was assumed that the responsibility for making sure the equipment was within statutory inspection date solely belonged to Company B.

Site management have a responsibility to ensure that all equipment requiring statutory inspection is within a valid certification date and should keep a record of all assets that require a statutory inspection on their site.

LEARNING POINTS / ACTIONS TAKEN

1. Keep a record of all site assets include location of the equipment and inspection due dates.

2. Equipment that is “outside "of the statutory inspection date MUST be quarantined and not used.

3. Any equipment that has not been covered by a recent or overdue inspection must be re-inspected as soon as possible and site management must prevent this equipment from being used.

4. Arrange re-inspection of the equipment via your local engineering surveyor.

5. Any defects from the statutory inspection must be rectified in an appropriate timely manner.
