THE ISSUE
MP Connect has identified 142 falsified contractor training or competence documents. While this is a very small proportion of the total evidence submitted, even a single case can introduce serious risk. This Alert is issued to raise awareness and protect everyone working in our industry.
WHAT’S BEING OBSERVED
Our verification processes have identified falsified evidence such as:
- Altered expiry dates
- Changed names or photos
- Forged or digitally created certificates
- Inconsistencies in qualification details.
These have been seen across a range of training, including confined space, working at height, abrasive wheels, forklift operation, mechanical / electrical / engineering maintenance, apprenticeship certificates, CSCS, ECITB, NPORS and safety passports.

WHY THIS MATTERS
Falsified documents can result in individuals being allocated tasks they are not trained or competent to carry out, which can lead to:
- Unsafe work and increased likelihood of incidents
- Incorrect or unsafe installation, repair or maintenance
- Reduced confidence in site safety controls
- Legal, contractual and reputational consequences.
The vast majority of contractors provide genuine evidence, and this process is designed to protect them and ensure safe working conditions.
