Truckmixer ladder gate and spray bar |
Observation showed that 80 per cent of the times a truckmixer operative climbed the ladder at the rear of a vehicle, it was to wash down either the loading pan (‘pigs ear’), or the lifter blades. As there was no suitable solution on the market, a technician at the Knaresborough plant designed his own. His ideas were developed into a wash-down system that eliminated the need to climb. Standard 6mm airline tubing was clipped to the mixer loading hopper and the underside of the hopper support bar. Holes were drilled in strategic positions to maximise wash-down efficiency. Two taps were incorporated – one to feed the water to the pan, and one for washing the blades and top of the chutes. Water usage is minimal and, therefore, the effect on the load is insignificant.
