DESCRIPTION
Following the Pennyvennie fatalities, the driver’s visibility from the cab of the dumper at Lafarge Tarmac’s Wensley Quarry was reviewed. It was felt there was the potential that he might not take all the information in from the numerous mirrors before setting off.
To overcome this concern, Vision Techniques supplied their new VTOverview system which provides a single point of focus to the driver. This system combines the images from four ultrawide angle cameras into a single image providing a bird’s eye view. From one monitor the driver can see all round the vehicle up to 6m out at a glance with no blindspots.
