Highly Commended
Turning the chute on the sand tower to a different position every day used to involve climbing a vertical ladder up the sand tower in all weathers. This was time consuming as it involved unlocking a wet and sandy padlock, removing the locking bar to open the safety gate, climbing the vertical ladder which could be slippery and tiring, pushing the chute to the new position, descending and then locking the vertical ladder safety gate.
There was a risk of fall from height so it mitigates the risk of Working at Height (one of ‘The Fatal 6’)
Please read additional pdf to see how this risk was mitigated.
