Construction of a precast section arch at the inlet of a kiln. |
Description
Aberthaw Works has developed a new methodology to replace the arch at the inlet of their kiln. The system uses pre-cast sections. The pre-cast sections are manufactured in a controlled environment and cured in a furnace at the recommended temperature. Bolted anchors are placed in the sections before casting, and these are then used install the arch.
Benefits
• The sections are of consistent quality, longer lasting and far less prone to failure • Removes hazards previously associated with welding and subsequent weld failures • Operation is a lot quicker minimising exposure to this harsh environment • The use of vibratory equipment and jack has been eliminated
