Mechanical chute closing device |
Description
To alter the flow of material through a feed chute involved an individual trying to manipulate a steel plate located eight feet off the ground. The operation was undertaken several times a day. It was a very strenuous activity sometimes requiring a sledge hammer. It was undertaken in a poorly lit, noisy and cramped space with the potential for a fall.
The plant fitter designed, fabricated and installed a system that replaced the steel plate with a cut off slide that can be slid in and out by the use of a chain pulley system operated from ground level.
Benefits
• The feed control can be made quickly and accurately • There is no manual handling • The risk of a fall has been removed
