Development strategy to change the safety culture of the Thrislington Works |
Description
A continuous improvement strategy was introduced using multidisciplinary teams based around the 4 shifts at Thrislington works. Each team was asked to produce measurable and visible improvements across a range of activities including health and safety. Fundamental to this approach was increasing co-operation and encouraging best practice benchmarking between each team. The process involved • A management presentation to the teams outlining their purpose • Allocating the teams responsibility for good housekeeping on specific areas of the site • Ensuring that the teams had the resources to address H&S issues • Monthly review meetings of progress and future initiatives • Re-allocating activities for other teams to action when appropriate • Photographic evidence of changes and displaying team objectives on notice boards
Benefits
• Significant improvements achieved and recognised by third parties • Visual improvement to the site.
