WINNER - Safer management of pedestrians and transport on site
Heidelberg Materials’ Dagenham site has historically struggled with traffic and pedestrian management issues due to the layout of the site and high volume of through traffic in the confines of the site. Hazards include vehicles driving into operational areas without authorisation, speeding, lack of seat belts being worn, mobile phone use whilst driving, incidents of staff abuse, pedestrians entering restricted areas.
One of the key issues in effecting a change in was the lack of evidence and time taken to investigate any incident, traditionally in the past it would be one parties word against another normally leading to an unsatisfactory or inaccurate conclusion.
