TITLE
Unsafe Working with Telehandler
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN
WHAT HAPPENED
A recent near hit has highlighted that an operative was using a Telehandler bucket as a working platform.
Whilst riveting the Perspex roof sheeting onto a bike shed the operative used the bucket attached to the telehandler as a platform to gain sufficient height to perform the task.
Many accidents have occurred within the construction industry whilst performing similar tasks and standing in plant buckets. It is a legal requirement within Health and Safety law that equipment is fit for purpose i.e. buckets are not working platforms.
