FINALIST - TOPIC 2
Access to washer barrels has for a long time been a problem due to poor design or even a lack specifically designed proprietary access.
At Swinderbury Quarry access to the washer barrel is required for routine inspections and maintenance which exposed operators to risk associated with climbing into the barrel and those associated with an enclosed and confined space.
Traditionally, access to the unit was tough, climbing through a trommel or improvised access from a nearby walkway not designed for access to the barrel.
CEMEX decided to develop a solution that would eliminate these hazards.
